Economy
The economy of Dubai releys heavily on the income from tourists. It has been a growing source for revenue in the past decades. Between January and June, 2013, more than 5.5 million tourists visited Dubai. This rapid increase does have many negative effects on the environment. The city has added many new hotels and other tourist attractions, taking a toll. The industrialisation process has happened very quickly to accommodate the increase in tourism. Also, making this desert city a desirable travel destination takes much water and energy. There are golf courses that soak up unbelievable amounts of water and extremely high amounts of air conditioning is used.
